"The Griswold" Cocktail Martini - Clark approves! ;-)

For the 2016 Ladies Book Club holiday party, we served "Chillary Hillary" and "The Donald" cocktail martinis ... which sparked countless political discussions. An equally contentious drink for 2017 might be serving "Harvey Wallbangers", but calling it a "Harvey Weinstein ... would you like one? - #MeToo" ... but my wife would be yet again horrified at my attempt at satirical humor! ;-)

We decided to stay conservative and in keeping with the "Merry Christmas" theme, the 2017 drink was ... the "Griswold" ... yep, we are talking about Clark W. Griswold! This was actually Dave's suggestion ... even though FOX News did say "Clark Griswold move over" in regards to my Christmas display one year. We did think about also serving a "Cousin Eddie"... but would you really want him at your holiday party?!? ;-)

Wendy and I really liked a Luxardo Daquari at a local restaruant, so after talking to the bartender and some experimentation, the simple recipe is 2 ounces light Rum, 1 ounce Creme de Cassis, 1 ounce Cherry Luxardo Liquor. Add about 1/2 ounce juice from Trader Joe's Amarena Cherries and about two (large) limes juiced. Adjust the last two ingredients for your sweet/sour balance. Garnish with Lime & holly-speared Cherry. Bonus if you serve in special themed glasses while wearing a Santa Hat! ;-)

The Griswold is best served in themed cocktail glasses! ;-)
