SOLD: 1998 Subaru Outback - Great Ski Car with only 153,700 miles!

I'm the original owner of this 1998 Subaru Outback which has been a GREAT Colorado car for 25+ years. The "Green Machine" has been well maintained (plus garaged for over two decades and never smoked in) so it's in darn good condition with only 153,700 miles.

I have all the maintenance receipts - here's a summary of all the work done to it. In the last 10,000 miles, it has gotten a new starter, battery, front brakes (and rotors), and Snow Tires. Includes a Thule ski rack that will take six skis ... so you are ready to hit the slopes. There's a bike rack so you are ready for summer fun ... and the A/C system (which was refilled about 5 years ago) still blows lots of cold air, so you'll be fine in the heat. Plus (front-facing) dash-cam to document your road trips. As seen in the pics, there is a "bed frame" in the back (with storage area underneath) so you can drop the back seats and lie flat in your "Subie" for a good night's sleep.

It does have a few minor dings, some fluid leaks and creaks & groans - it could use some new struts. But HEY, what do you expect for a car that is 25 years old! This has been going on for years - Flatirons Subaru tells me this is very typical for a car this old, so I just monitor and top off fluids as needed. This was a great family wagon for us and would be a nice ski car for a college student. It's located in Lafayette with clear title and especially with the low mileage, I've priced it to sell at $2,500. So no tire kickers or low-ballers ... only serious (CASH!) buyers please.

Sold for $2,500!!!

Loren was a perfect buyer - really nice young guy who is pretty serious into cars ... so he was accepting of the fact that it is a 25-year old car that leaks fluids and has some creaks & groans ... plus he can fix the (hopefully) minor issues himself for much less than what a shop would charge. He said the selling point was that the car was really clean and (since I kept meticulous maintenance records) it was obvious I'm a guy who takes care of things. I had debated pricing it at $3,000 to leave room for dickering, but I felt $2,500 was fair and I was firm on that ... skip the whole dink-around bargaining with potential buyers. He agreed and had brought/gave me cold hard cash!
