Subject: First/Test Email about Alek & Wendy African Safari

This is the first/test Email to the A&W African Safari Email list.

If you do not want to be on this, pls let me know. I hope to file
a couple of reports "live" from Africa ... although given that the 
vast majority of places we are at have no power/phone lines, 
that may be a challenge!  ;-)

As many of you know, Dirk has been at Children's Hospital since
Saturday. I won't bore you with the misc. clinical findings to date;
but a nutshell summary is every doctor we've talked to has said
"should be no problem for you to go to Africa this Saturday."  
This is not meant to sound selfish for Wendy and I ... but to
characterize Dirk prognosis as a positive one.

Some recent developments on Africa are that my friend Jon Wade has
loaned me a 2X tele-convertor for the digital camara ... this gives
me an effective zoom capability of 35-230mm ... and I feel totally
bad-ass with this setup, even though I'm a pretty clueless
photographer. In addition, he gave me another memory card, so I 
have a total picture taking capacity of 100 MBytes, which is 
about 200 "good" pictures.
