Subject: 2nd/farewell Email - Alek & Wendy African Safari

Date: 19990528, 2125 (Dirk was born one year ago and one hour ago ;-)

Everything is green-go for our trip!

Dirk continues to get more chipper each day ... and is starting to
do new things - "I don't want to go to sleep in my crib right now;
so I'm just going to stand up in it and yell for Mommy & Daddy!  ;-)"
Dirk has actually been extra sweet the last few days ... little
does he know that Mommy & Daddy disappear for 2.5 weeks in 12 hours;
after his one-year birthday party we had for him tonight!

We packed our bags today - we have a 25 pound Intra-Africa limit. 
Alek typically packs twice as much stuff as Wendy; but this time, I
didn't do too bad:  Alek - 21 pounds ... Wendy - 19 pounds.
Wendy is allready complaining that I'm two pounds too much!   ;-)

For the LONNGGGG flight over there, Wendy has Parenting Magazines,
Reader's Digest, and some paperbacks. Alek has over a dozen computer
journals, 5 Aviation Week & Space Technologies, and two week of
Wall Street Journals ... 15 pounds of absolutely facinating reading!

The MOST important piece of paper we have is NOT our passports;
it is the Mother's Day gift I gave to Wendy that says:
    "good for no bitchin' from Alek on South African Airways"

The next Email should come from Africa.
