Halloween Movies

I have a number of cool christmas videos including one of me in in the ABC News helicopter providing live coverage for the 6:00 News. So while I seriousely doubt things will be as "exciting" for Halloween, I'll list any video snippets and some halloween webcam time-lapse video here. See what others are saying in the halloween blog and chime in yourself about the halloween stuff. There is no audio on these sound clips, so if you want something to listen to, here is some free halloween music. Unless otherwise noted, all movies are mpeg format using a Linux command line tool to convert the jpegs - read more here.

2007 Halloween Night Movies

Once again, Halloween night was pretty crazy as over 200 trick-or-treaters came by ... we went through 10 packs of 20 Play Dough containers. There was heavy traffic on the halloween webcam as web surfers worldwide watched, turn stuff on/off, and left 1,697 "Instant Messages" on webcam3.

• September 29th, 2007 - Hulk goes up on the balcony plus garage lights with mini-Hulks
• October 3rd, 2007 - Inflatables go up on webcam 1 and 2
• October 9th, 2007 - Just another evening at Komar.Org as seen on webcam 1 - 2 - 3
• October 11th, 2007 - Monster Colorado Rockies Baseballs help 'em win game #1 in the NLCS as seen on webcam2.
• October 23rd, 2007 - Two Hulks on webcam1 and updated Haunted Office on webcam3
• October 24th, 2007 - Deflating Colorado Rockies Baseballs after they lose first World Series game ... 13-1! :-(

2006 Halloween Night Movies

Halloween night was nuts again - I'd estimate over 200 trick-or-treaters - maybe someone will count 'em in the webcam videos below! In additions, there was heavy traffic on the halloween webcam as web surfers worldwide watched, turn stuff on/off, and did "Instant Messages" on webcam3.

• October 6th, 2006 - Tossing the HULK up on the 2nd floor balcony
• October 8th, 2006 - Setting up Alien, Frankenstein, and Spider - damn, those puffy pants give me a huge butt! ;-)
• October 11th, 2006 - Footage for webcams 1 - 2 - 3 plus Alek up on the roof while Kyle tries to keep Frank & Homer up
• October 17th, 2006 - First Colorado Snow on webcams 1 and 2 plus low-lux mode makes a super-nova pumpkin
• October 18th, 2006 - Snowy Sunrise video from webcams 1 and 2 and subsequent snow melting and next day
• October 23rd, 2006 - I turn on the "IM on webcam" feature
• October 24th, 2006 - A balloon lands nearby
• October 26th, 2006 - Pumpkin BURSTS out of the snow as the Snowman melts while he lights up a CornCob pipe ... twice!

2005 Halloween Night Movies

Halloween night was nuts - in addition to a LOT of trick-or-treaters, the lights were flashing like crazy as web surfers around the world enjoyed the halloween webcam. And then Frankenstein "died" at about 1815. I initially thought his fan motor had died from excessive usage, but turned out the internal fuse popped ... so I quickly rolled up some aluminum foil as a temporary fix and at 2024, IT'S ALIVE! Note also that the webcam reset twice, but then I move it back. In hindsight, I should have had a little bit of a wider angle shot so you could see all the kids going up to the door - I did this at the end.

2005 Pre-Halloween Movies

• October 13th, 2005 - 1700-2200 and 0600-2230 - note fuse popped on upper deck icicles (right of HULK) at 2025
• October 14th, 2005 - 1700-1930 - note webcam reset at 1757 (fixed 1825) and fuse replaced at 1902
• October 15th, 2005 - Initial stress testing of X10 light controls. - Note upper deck/roof lights don't change - X10 signals sometimes don't get to certain circuits, so I'll have to play around with where I plug in the wireless receiver. The bedroom lights don't change due to SAF - Spousal Acceptance Factor - would be a bit annoying to my wife. BTW, latency is (as expected) about a second or two. Some neighbors showed up with their kids to check out HULK's Halloween display, so I gave 'em a custom tour and let 'em manually toggle the lights - ended up having 'em pose by Frankenstein and wave to the webcam. They also enjoyed playing with the 10,000,000 candlepower Thor spotlight and turned it on the webcam - darn bright light that blew out the CCD pretty good. Note that about a dozen frames per minute (rather than one per minute as earlier) were used to generate this mpeg.
• October 19th, 2005 - A grey rainy morning - Note alek cleans up the view near the beginning.
• October 20th, 2005 - Tony the Tiger says the halloween webcam is GGRREEAATTT - the video includes some goofy posing with some semi-ugly halloween costumes
• October 21st, 2005 - Webcam turned on early for European surfers - sun comes up from the left/East, but a dreary day.
• October 22nd, 2005 - Watch Frankenstein wobble as the wind picks up
• October 29nd, 2005 - Kids have a fun time hamming it up for the webcam - FUNNY!
