Subject: Followup from 2nd High Peaks Post 4th grade meeting Date: Sat, 23 Feb 2008 09:02:18 -0700 From: Alek O. Komarnitsky To: high-peaks-post-4th-grade@komar.org CC: Maggie Yost , Kelly Wright , Randy Schmidt High Peaks Post 4th Graders and Parents, We had a great meeting over lunch on Thursday where we discussed everyone's story ideas. I have updated the web site: http://www.komar.org/high-peaks-post/ which also includes some pictures of our aspiring reporters looking mighty serious ... and not-so-serious! ;-) I would ask that each of you check that web site to make sure the title/topic of your story is correctly recorded ... and Email me any changes/updates. Yes, you can change your story idea if there is something else you want to do, but we need to finalize these. So now that you have your idea per Part I of the Guidelines (which are also available on the web site), lets move to part II - gathering the facts. Outline a list of questions that address the who, what, where, why, when, & how. Figure out how you are going to get those and/or who you will interview, etc. And start working this next phase - remember that reporters have deadlines, and ours is Friday, March 21st before Spring Break. With barely a half hour over lunch/recess (once everyone is settled in), that's about 90 seconds for each of the 20 students ... so while we won't be able to go into depth with each of you during this period, we'll review how everyone is doing and address any common issues/problems. As always, you can Email me any specific questions. We'll have our 3rd meeting this Thursday, Feb 28th over lunch in Ms. Wright's classroom again - see you then! alek - aka Mr. "K" P.S. Our Editor-in-Chief Maggie Yost is working logistics on our tour of the Denver Newspaper Agency Printing Plant. Doesn't look like we'll do it this Thursday, Feb 28th ... but we're hoping to get things figured out and maybe the following week. I'll keep you posted.
