For the technies out there, this is done by taking the text input from the web page, doing some validation (and hopefully (!) obscuring any profanity - boy, some people say the ... uhhhh ... "strangest things"), and dumping the contents to an HTML file The laptop visible in Webcam3 (Santa's Workshop) then just keeps reloading the page every couple of second using the Firefox Extension ReloadEvery ... so the most recent text that was entered is displayed for all to see. I also keep a log for each day and the number of IM's sent.
And yes, people who abuse the system are banned - please try to simply ignore them and keep it family-friendly and have fun please!
